Hey there,

Welcome to my little slice of the internet.

For the sake of what I’m doing here, you can call me Anon.

While that might sound a bit edgy, it’s a necessary precaution to ensure that I can give you a raw, uncensored look into the gaming industry without any blowback to my day job.

I’m sure you’re wondering “Well, this all sounds a bit mid — why are you hiding your identity?” — Simply put, the industry isn’t as big as you think. One negative comment that rubs someone the wrong way and you can be blacklisted.

For the record, I’m a developer embedded deep within the AAA games industry. Yes, those big-budget titles that take up hours, days, and sometimes months of your life — that’s where I live and breathe.

My career is intertwined with big teams, big projects, and equally big challenges. But yes, there’s a good chance I either have worked on your favourite game or I have close friends that brought that game to life.

Now, you might be wondering why this blog exists. After all, aren’t there already tons of blogs, podcasts, and YouTube channels dedicated to gaming? The short answer is yes.

The difference lies in the perspective. Here, I aim to give you an insider’s view, complete with the good, the bad, and the occasionally ugly. If you’re willing to listen, I’m happy to answer what really goes on in the games industry.

You see, the gaming industry, like any other, has its quirks. Things happen that leave gamers scratching their heads. “Why was this PC port so awful when the console version was great?”, “Why do games ship so buggy?”, “Are devs just lazy?” .etc — We’re going to delve into questions like these, without any corporate PR spin or damage control.

The aim is not to expose or badmouth the industry I love and have dedicated years to. Instead, I want to give you a deeper understanding of the decision-making processes, the realities of game development, and the constraints we work under. I want to share with you the trials and triumphs of crafting the games you love.

For years, I’ve kept quiet about the shenanigans that go on and the common misunderstanding of the inner workings of the games industry.

By creating this open and honest dialogue, I hope we can foster a better understanding and appreciation of the process behind the games.

It should be important to note that I won’t be “leaking” any upcoming game information or anything like that.

Nothing hurts morale more than having your hard work out there before it’s ready. If you’re looking for that, you’ve come to the wrong place.

But if you’re a fellow game dev, an avid gamer, or someone just curious about what goes on behind the scenes and want the truth on what the industry is really like, you’re welcome here.

So, that’s it. Welcome to my blog. I hope you enjoy this wild ride as much as I look forward to sharing it.

Cheers,
Anon xoxo

P.S — Feel free to send questions along, I’m more than happy to answer them.
